Science Creates Workshop
Come join our workshop in the Learning Lab at the Old Market Science Creates incubator, led by Charlie at the Science Creates Outreach team in collaboration with one of the amazing innovative companies in residence. Take a four week deep dive into a project with us.
Our next Friday workshops will be: February 23rd, March 1st, 8th + 15th
Time: 1030am - 1230
The four week programme will be Exploring Healthcare Innovation.
In the sessions learners will learn about and explore the meaning and significance of healthcare innovation, and will get to meet scientists from companies working on technologies and innovation for healthcare purposes, such as GenomeKey and Carbometrics.
One of the sessions will be run by Sarah Palmer, a Cell Biologist, who will lead a hands on session to extract DNA from a strawberry.
During the programme they will be introduced to Chemists from Carbometrics who will demonstrate how glucose monitors work and ask them to decide if they are accurate enough by making and testing a standard solution of glucose.
In the final session the group will be challenged to invent a simple, yet creative, medical device or tool that they feel is needed for the future.
Sessions cost £12 and booking for all four is required to enable us to enable a weekly build on learning with the same cohort of learners.
We have future workshop dates: May 3rd, 10th, 17th + 24th 2024
