Autumn Programme

We are excited to continue our rolling programme of workshops.  following conversations with our young people, parent community, facilitators, and Youth Advisory Board we are making some changes. We are opening up some new workshops, and continuing to build partnerships which offer exciting opportunities and widen our collaborations across the city and online.  

We invite all families to become members which enables access to workshops and online opportunities. Read more about our membership here.

All our sessions are aimed at young people age 12+ .​ Our morning sessions start at 1045 - 1pm and afternoon sessions 145pm - 4pm.

Hub Based workshops

​

Over the past two years, our workshops have evolved, shaped not just by our facilitators, but by the young people themselves. Every voice, every idea, every spark of curiosity helps steer the journey.
 

Whether joining in with a group project or bringing their own ideas to the table, our learners dive into opportunities to create, explore, and collaborate.  We’re here to nurture a love of learning, grow confidence through self-discovery, and inspire the kind of teamwork that turns ideas into something bigger than imagined.


Our Hub is a self contained space at City of Bristol College, find us on google maps.

Art - Monday morning

Our creative art workshop offers a space for different skills to be explored.

​The focus is for creative skills to be developed & confidence to be grown.

History - Monday afternoon

​A deep dive in to history; learner led discovery and project based historical adventures with Lydia.​​​​​

Supported Maths - Tuesday morning

Small group sessions. Self directed supported learning space following the Functional Skills Maths Level 1 & 2 curriculum or bringing their own maths challenges.  

Science & Innovation - Tuesday afternoon

will explore different project based challenges within Science, Technology, & Engineering.​

Journalism & Media -
Wednesday morning

Creative writing will be at the heart of this workshop, where learners will collaborate to produce an online Hub. Opportunity to learn new media skills.

‘Journeys & Cultures’ OR
Beginners Spanish 
- Wednesday afternoon

This workshop will invite learners to become global citizens by exploring the world through the lens of geography. Or join an interactive beginners Spanish.

Online partners & Other workshops

We love to partner with organisations within the city as well as opportunities for online learning. We have loved working with the Science Creates outreach team to bring fascinating science workshops to our young people. We are excited this year to open up Drama with the Bristol Old Vic on Tuesdays.

Science Creates

Join our workshops in the Learning Lab at the Old Market incubator.  These are led by the Science Creates Outreach team in collaboration with the innovative companies in residence.

Lyfta

Explore the world with Lyfta’s immersive online learning platform, growing knowledge and awareness of being a global citizen.

Drama @ Old Vic

Tuesday afternoons will bring Drama workshops at the Bristol Old Vic. Led by one of the fantastic team in the Young Theatre company our young people will develop confidence and have lots of fun in these drama based workshops.

Duke of Edinburgh bronze Award

We are currently going through the accreditation process to have a license.  We aim to start in November 2025. 

Functional Skills online

We have partnered with Pass Functional Skills to enable access to the online learning platform.​

Learners can complete Level 1 2 in both English & Maths, as well as take their exam online at home when ready.

MoSAIC science

Ad-hoc science workshops with Gaz at the MoSAIC - fun, creative and dynamic.

GCSE pathways

At the Hub, we imagine a future where education isn’t limited to ticking boxes or chasing grades, but celebrates the whole person and their unique learning journey.  We believe there are many ways to grow, thrive, and achieve, but we also recognise that, for now, GCSEs can be an important step along the way.

​

While we don’t run GCSE workshops ourselves, we work closely with trusted partners and create opportunities that enrich and support each learner’s journey.  Here are our current options:

GCSE Maths in hub

On Tuesday mornings, the City of Bristol College team will be facilitating these workshops in the Hub. This is a 2 year journey, with College funded exam.

Marine Science iGCSE

We are excited to be collaborating with Jake at Humanatees Tutor - he teaches course content & the Hub team will run the practical days at the Aquarium & Science Creates

GCSE English in Hub

On Wednesday mornings the City of Bristol College team will be facilitating these workshops in the Hub. A two year journey, with College funded exam.

GCSE English with Tom

GCSE English with Tom in his studio in Backwell Common. Thursday afternoons, for young people exploring a creative, more relaxed approach to GCSE English. 

GCSE Art with Gemma

Weekly Monday online art sessions, with once a term in person workshop day facilitated by Gemma & supported by the Hub team at Spike Island.

Bookings

We use Kids Club HQ to take bookings as it is Ofsted compliant and enables us to hold young people's data securely and create a simple booking system.
