Maths & English GCSE with City of Bristol College
Sometimes, a conversation with one of our city partners surprises us, in the very best way. This was one of those moments.
When we first moved into the City of Bristol College space, we were excited by the potential to build real pathways into college for our young people.
We know that paying for GCSE exams can be frustrating, especially if your approach to education isn’t centred around formal assessments. Yet access to funded Level 3 courses (like A Levels or T Levels) for 16–19-year-olds still requires a pass in GCSE Maths and English or an equivalent, such as Functional Skills Level 2.
City of Bristol College are keen to pilot a GCSE Maths and English programme for home educated young people, delivered by one of their own experienced tutors.
-
For our current Year 10s this would be a two-year programme, unless our tutor identifies the young person is ready to sit the exams in summer 2026.
-
Exams will be arranged and fully funded by the college.
-
Both teaching and exams are planned to take place in our Hub space.
